Depression

What Does God Say About Depression? (Ask a Pastor)

Speaking from his own experience, Pastor JP shares his story of battling depression, what it feels like, and what God does while we are in the midst of the darkness.

In your situation – there may be blessings in the darkness, something may be right around the corner so don’t give into the darkness.

God does have a plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11
Here are the key points to Pastor JP’s talk:

Depression is real and we do not want to diminish or minimize the pain. A well-intentioned person may have
said to you something like “Just shake it off” or “Be Happy” or “Choose Joy”. The person may have meant well
but the person did not speak well or from experience.

Depression is a painful journey of ups and downs. And you may be feeling worthless, and that God has made a mistake. There may be negative voices in your head that keep repeating, “I am not good enough”, “I am not funny enough”, “I am not clever enough”, “I am not (fill in the blank) enough”.

The weight of those voices can make you feel like your life is fading to black with no way out.

THERE IS HOPE!
Hear this: God will bring you out of that darkness and give you purpose and a calling for your life.

God says you are remarkably and wonderfully made! God does not make mistakes.

The writer of Psalm 139 of the bible came to this truth that no matter the circumstance or the situation God is
with him and that he is not a mistake.

Where can I go? If I go to the heights, you are there.  If I go to the depths, you are there. No matter if it is dark or light – you are with me, because even the darkness is not dark to you. I am remarkably and wonderfully made;”

This verse is talking about YOU too and every person God created.

AMAZING TRUTHS TO PONDER!

* God is with you in the heights and the depths.
* God loves you.
* God created you.
* God has plans for you.
* God sees you clearly because darkness is like light to Him.

If you are on the precipice with everything fading to black and you feel like you cannot go on remember you are made by God and you are wonderful.  You are not a mistake.

We never know what tomorrow will bring.  Things can change.  God is never done.

On the darkest day of all of history, Jesus died on the cross.
But, God was not done.  There was resurrection and life.  It is the reason for our hope.
