Many see this text as the basis for the supposed disagreement between Paul and James regarding the role of ‘works’ in our faith and salvation. In today’s sermon we’re going to look at James addressing the topic of judgment or showing partiality to individuals. We tend to do it all the time and James comes down hard on this practice - calling it sin and equating it on the level of murder and adultery. Why is he so hard on what many would consider a “lesser” sin? Because showing partiality is a subtle form of judgment and that’s God place not yours and it devalues the intrinsic value that God has placed in each and every one of us. How do we change from this type of behavior. Read through to the action points at the end of the sermon.
